Privacy policy

This policy explains what we collect when you use this site or send us an enquiry, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Who we are

Caye Coast plans private, tailor-made trips to Belize. We are responsible for the personal data described here. Our address is Belize City, Belize, and you can reach us about privacy at cayecoast@tourground.com.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry or use the trip planner: your name and email address, and anything you choose to tell us, such as a phone number, when you would like to travel, who is coming (including children's ages), how many nights, your interests, a rough budget band and your message. We also record which page you sent it from.

When we plan a trip with you: the details needed to arrange it, such as passport names, dates of birth, flight times, dietary needs and any health or mobility information you decide to share so that we can plan safely.

When you browse: this site does not use analytics or advertising trackers. Our web host keeps short-lived server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and to keep the site running.

Why we use it

To answer your enquiry, prepare a proposal and, if you go ahead, arrange and run your trip. The legal basis is the steps you have asked us to take before a contract and the contract itself, and our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us. Where you share health information, we use it only with your consent and only to plan your trip safely.

We do not sell your details, and we do not add you to a mailing list unless you ask us to.

Who we share it with

The services that host this website and deliver our email, which process data on our behalf under contract.

Once you have asked us to go ahead with a booking: the lodges, boat captains, guides, drivers and airlines needed for your trip in Belize, and only what each of them needs.

Public authorities, if the law requires it.

International transfers

Planning a trip to Belize means sharing booking details with suppliers there and with services based in other countries. When we do, we take reasonable steps to make sure your data is protected, and we share only what is needed to arrange your trip.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become trips are deleted within 24 months of our last contact with you. For trips that go ahead, we keep booking records for as long as accounting, tax and legal obligations require, and then delete them.

Keeping it safe

We limit access to your data to the people who need it to plan your trip, and we use services with appropriate security measures. No method of sending data over the internet is completely secure, so please do not send card details by email.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, ask us to restrict it, or withdraw any consent you have given. Email cayecoast@tourground.com and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Changes

We will update this page if the way we handle personal data changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
