Booking terms

These terms explain how planning and booking a private trip with us works, from your first enquiry to your return home. Please read them before you confirm a trip.

About us

Caye Coast plans tailor-made trips to Belize. Our address is Belize City, Belize, and you can reach us at cayecoast@tourground.com. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Caye Coast, and “you” means the person making the booking on behalf of everyone travelling.

Enquiries and proposals

An enquiry, a call or a draft itinerary does not commit you or us to anything. We don't publish prices: every trip is priced individually once we know what you would like.

Each proposal sets out what is included, what is not, and the price. Prices depend on availability with lodges, boats and airlines, and are confirmed only when we accept your booking.

Confirming a booking

Your booking is confirmed when you have accepted a proposal, paid the deposit stated in it, and we have sent you a written confirmation. By booking, you confirm that everyone travelling has agreed to these terms and that you are authorised to accept them on their behalf.

The balance is due by the date stated in your confirmation. If it is not paid on time, we may treat the booking as cancelled by you, and the cancellation charges below will apply.

Changes you ask for

If you want to change your trip after it is confirmed, tell us as soon as possible. We will do our best to help, but changes depend on availability and may involve extra costs, including charges passed on by lodges, boat operators and airlines.

If you cancel

You can cancel by writing to cayecoast@tourground.com. Cancellation charges increase as your departure date approaches, because lodges, boats and airlines charge us in the same way. The charges for your trip are set out in your proposal and confirmation before you pay anything. Deposits are normally non-refundable. Where charges are covered by your travel insurance, you may be able to claim them back.

If we change or cancel

Occasionally we may have to change part of a trip, for example when a lodge closes, a boat is unsafe to sail, or a flight schedule changes. If that happens, we will tell you as soon as we can and offer a comparable alternative.

If we have to make a significant change or cancel your trip before departure, you can choose the alternative we offer or a full refund of the money you have paid us. We will not cancel after the balance is paid except for reasons beyond our control or because you have not paid.

Events beyond anyone's control

We cannot be responsible for changes, delays or cancellations caused by events outside our control and that of our suppliers, such as hurricanes and tropical storms, severe weather and sea conditions, natural disasters, epidemics, war, civil unrest, strikes or government action. In those cases we will help you rearrange plans and recover what costs we can from suppliers.

Travel insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is a condition of booking. It should cover cancellation, medical treatment, evacuation and repatriation, and any activities you plan, such as diving, snorkelling, caving or fishing. Please send us the policy details before you travel.

Passports, visas and health

It is your responsibility to hold a valid passport and any visas or entry permits you need, and to meet the health and vaccination requirements for Belize and any country you pass through. Rules change, so please check official government sources before you travel. We can point you to them, but we cannot accept responsibility if you are refused boarding or entry.

On the trip

Some experiences, such as diving, cave visits and boat crossings, carry risk and have their own safety rules, age limits or fitness requirements. Please follow the instructions of guides, captains and lodge staff, and tell us before you book about any medical condition or mobility need that may affect your trip.

Our responsibility

We will plan your trip with reasonable skill and care, and we are responsible for making sure the services we arrange are provided as described. We are not responsible where a problem is caused by you or someone in your party, by a third party unconnected with your trip, or by events beyond our control.

Where the law allows, our liability is limited to the price of the trip, and services provided by airlines and other carriers are subject to their own conditions and to international conventions. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law.

Complaints

If something is not right during your trip, please tell your guide, the lodge or us straight away, so that it can be put right on the spot. If you are still unhappy, write to cayecoast@tourground.com within 28 days of your return, and we will reply in writing.

Using this website

The information on this site is written carefully, but seasons, entry rules, fees and local rules change. Anything marked “Check before you travel” is waiting to be confirmed against an official source. Nothing on this site is a quote or an offer. The words on this site belong to Caye Coast; photographs belong to their photographers.

Law

These terms are governed by the law that applies to your booking, which we will set out in your confirmation. Nothing in them affects your statutory rights as a consumer where you live.
